Passito Magico 2014 – Abbazia, San Giorgio
Perfection. Sweet wines are often heavy and sugary. Not this one which has a south Italian citrus backbone and refreshing zip of acidity. Coming from the tiny island of Pantelleria, this wine comes from a local grape called Zibbibo and done in a passito style. Battista Belvisi is a purist with the approach of ‘nature is perfect’ and works with the philosophy of ‘nothing added, nothing taken away. Organic certified and working in biodynamics, they produce a ‘Magic’ dessert wine that pairs with aged, stinky cheeses, and richer desserts.
